For those of you interested in building your own Heavy Duty or Performance transmission, then you have come to the right place. I offer "very complete rebuild kits". They come with "everything" that is needed to do this right the first time. My kits offer you the best of both worlds, smooth part throttle upshifts, quicker downshifts, and very quick wide open throttle shifts. I offer these "very complete" rebuild kits from Heavy Duty to the Pro Street Elite. You can call me anytime at 909 795-1876 with your questions on what is required for your particular application.
In the rebuild kits, I have setup the options in such a way so that you cannot make a wrong choice. I am always improving (updating) the rebuild kits. Borg Warner has released an improved version of their 29 element dual cage sprag. The sprag elements are 12.8% wider than the original Borg Warner dual cage sprag. With a slight modification for better oiling, it looks like it will do very well. They come in all of the rebuild kits.
I am working on something new that will be offered in the very near future, Turbulator steels for the "overrun" clutch pack. There will be a "slight" gain in gas mileage by using them. They will come in all of the 700R4 and 4L60E rebuild kits when made available.
The latest GM "heat treated" sunshell has proven to be an excellent piece. In Rick Abare's 3,400 lb. mid 9 second 1996 Firebird (1.22 - 1.26 sixty foot, 9.50 - 9.70 ET's at 138 - 141+ mph) he has well over 2,500 passes without breaking or stripping the late GM "heat treated" sunshell. The Beast is a good piece, and I offer it in all of my Street/Strip, Pro Street & Pro Street Elite rebuild kits. The downside is that it is heavy, and they are not balanced. If you want to use the late "heat treated" GM sunshell instead of the Beast for your particular application, let me know, The GM "heat treated" sunshells are lighter, they are "balanced", and are offered in the thrust washer or bearing version styles.
With the technical information that I can provide, DVD/VHS videos, ATSG build books, and the tools for building 700R4/4L60E's, you will be able to build a 700R4 or 4L60E transmission successfully. You can always call me in the evenings or weekends with questions and for assistance, 909 795-1876, or email me at dana@700r4l60e.com |
