How much better is a Vigilane compared to an Edge? |
|
I have a Street edge 9.5" converter on a 700R4.
It's a 3000 rpm stall on my 396 SB chevy corvette.
It has good street manners, but not as axpected. With light gas it has good street manner, but when I use something near 1/2 throttle I'm at 3000 rpm easy.
With more than 1/2 throttle to WOT I'm easy near 3500-3800.
Even at WOT it does not seems so "efficient".
Is the Street edge 9.5" converter equipped with anti-ballooning plate?
I'm noticing that when manually shifting at WOT from 2 to 3 at more than 6000 rpm, it needs a full second to change gear and in between I can hear a noise like if the converter is ballooning.

I don't much about this but my brother have a street edge just like yours. He's contented with it because of the shock less transmitted to the driveline, which gives longer drivetrain life. I think you also don't need to change torque converters.
