Full hold manual-shift valve body for the C-4/5 |
|
Hello, part of my life revolves around the off-road world involving rock crawling and technical trail riding.
What I'm looking for are modifications to the C4/5 valve body (I'm running sort of a combination transmission to mate to the 4.0 OHV Ford V-6.) that will allow for full hold in all three gears, plus manual shift if possible. Reversed pattern is also a plus, but not required. In order of preference, I need full hold, then manual action, then reverse pattern, and I can live without full manual or reverse pattern, but the full hold in each gear would be very helpful for steep descents.
Anyone?

Turns out that Art Carr has this exact piece. Cost is slightly prohibitive for me though ($375 + shipping at Wild Horses, over $500 direct from Art Carr).
Love to duplicate this for less bucks. Is that possible with a regular C4 valve body?

TransGo has full manual forward pattern Shift kits for these. I need to know the exact year you are working on?

I'm not sure the exact year, as this is a custom build from a core for an off-road truck. Is there a way to tell by a code on the unit?
FYI, the transmission is going behind a Ford Explorer 4.0 V-6 using 1983 2.8 bellhousing, tailshaft, and extension housing with a C4/5 of unknown vintage.
